I wonder why Blythe's mom has never been seen or mentioned so far. Why do you think that is? Did Blythe's parents file a divorce or is Blythe's dad a single parent? Granted, such themes might be too mature for an innocent kid's show like this so the reason will probably never be explored, but whenever I observe a story about a family where one parent is missing, I can't help but wonder what happened to them.

I know! I'm not a fan of that but it's so interesting! I'm guessing they're divorced. They might cover this, just won't state it directly. You never know...

I'm pretty sure they're divorced. If not, her mom may have passed away somehow, but that personally makes me too sad to think about.  I doubt LPS will specifically mention what happened to Blythe's mother, but I don't think it's inappropriate either. I have seen some childrens shows/movies that talked about such things (look at Lilo and Stitch- every viewer knew the parents were dead). Also, I don't think there's anything wrong with divorce either. Tons of children experience it all the time. Maybe it is a good idea to have a character that can relate to them. |

I forgot about Lilo & Stitch! You also have to consider, even the shows creators said this... it's for an older audience then MLP. I'm not sure about this but the creators said it.

I do in fact think that Roger and Blythe's mother are divorced with each other I also think it's the same way with Fisher and Whittany and Brittany's mother.

Well, L&S was rated PG, while LPS and MLP are rated Y. So I guess L&S can put death into their work. But I watched it as a kid, and was completely cool with it. XD In some children's cartoons, however, it did discuss death. I remember a Recess episode all about the class pet that died. It still makes me sad to watch.  |

Well my theory they are divorced too, I also maybe Blythe's mom has the same ability to talk to animals, maybe they had something to do with her disappearance. I do think Blythe's her abilities and it was unlock when she bumped her head either via her mom or from her grandparant and it skipped a generation.
It is sad if Blythe's mom is dead, but she at least have one parent, compare to Youngmee, it is implied that her aunt is her guardian, and her parents either dead or took a leave of absense "Sweet (Truck) Ride" hints at that. Being driven to school, that is a parental or guardian responsibility.

If her mom is alive I think she'll either make a appearance in either Season 2 or another currently unaccounced Season of the show and I also like the idea that Blythe's mom also has the same ability maybe she either A. runs her own pet shop or B. is a Zookeeper.
