LPS is such a light universe, that I don't think stuff like death on the same day would happen, it is too dark. It is not like Bleach (where I got that idea from, reading the latest chapter)

Yeah start at chapter 480 volume 52, the latest arc is getting rave reviews by everyone that reads and reviews manga. You probably want to skip the Fullbringer arc. Another series that used the everything on the same day was Fairy Tail, the dragons and Layla Heartfillia disappeared on the same day as well, that is one of my favorite mangas, though it is a aquired taste if you don't mind the power of friendship being a big theme and some fan service.. And if you are a MLP fan, that is one series I really recommend, for all fans of friendship power.

Like Kioku, I'm of the assumption that Blythe's mom is dead; I just don't buy the divorce theory. Whenever a kid lives with a single-parent dad, chances are it's because he's widowed rather than divorced. Let's face it, whenever a divorce happens, it's usually the mom who takes the kids. If Blythe's mom divorced, we would've seen her by now. Roger Baxter may be a cool dad by the show's implications, but I think it'd be a bit of a stretch to think he'd be divorced and still taking care of Blythe.
Then again, this is a cartoon that constantly ignores real-world logic and politics. There could be lots of possibilities.
Even if she were dead, it wouldn't necessarily prevent her from making an appearance in the show. They could make flashback episodes that bring up Blythe's past or maybe they could even have an episode where they travel back in time somehow (although if the writers ever decided to do that I would prefer they use a means that wouldn't involve a time machine, like maybe one of Sunil's magic tricks could go horribly wrong where he accidentally brings everyone to the past).
In response to the thread's title, I don't think it'd be too dark or mature for the show if they were to ever reveal that someone is dead. Rugrats had no problem revealing that Chuckie's biological mom was dead and that was also a TV-Y cartoon.

Watching this show further, I'd like to add a few more statements. Blythe's mom is not only nowhere to be seen but neither is she ever even mentioned or hinted at. Even the family portrait seen in Blythe's apartment only shows Roger and Blythe.
Once again I find myself applying reality-based thought while utilizing mere speculation over a cartoon that often ignores reality to begin with, but for the sake of contributing a little flavor to the fandom's rollercoaster fantasies, I'll fancy the idea that Mrs. Baxter must've probably died while Blythe was still a baby. I say this because Blythe doesn't seem to dwell on any thoughts of ever having a mom. No nostalgic memories of any loved ones, no yearning for a family figure that's missing in her life, no empty void that needs filling. She goes through life as though she never knew her mom.
That is...if she ever even had one to begin with... Even her father Roger doesn't reminisce about his wife or any significant other for that matter. The notable absence, and lack of any mention, of a mother/wife in both her and her father's life seems to strangely imply as though Roger just asexually reproduced Blythe somehow... Oh boy, looks like I'm the one exploring mature themes with this show, I'd better move on before I start sounding weirder x.x
So yeah, I just think it's really odd that Blythe's mother is practically nonexistant in the show to the point where we fans are left to imagine theories on whether she's divorced, dead, disappeared, etc. with absolutely no hints whatsoever to base any of our ideas from.
