Has anyone else noticed this brief scene in Secret Cupet of Tootsie and Genghis in love right after the intro? Considering they're both male characters, does this suggest they're gay? If so, would this be the first time a Hasbro cartoon (or any young children's cartoon) has depicted a gay couple?

Nothing wrong with that, as they say in Seinfeld not that there is anything with it.
As fun as it was to see SunilxPepper and VinniexMinka, part of me thought it would have been funnier if Sugar Sprinkles song made Vinnie and Sunil fall in love with each other.

Not saying there's anything wrong with it, I'm just wondering if that was their intention. If it was, then I think it's cool that the animators carefully snuck it in. I think it would've also been interesting if Sunil and Vinnie went gaga for each other.

I know, I am just quoting a Seinfeld episode.

Woah - interesting... Surprised they'd actually do that, it may not be obvious to kids, but it's clear that they're "in love". I haven't seen the episode though Well, I think it'd be pretty cool, but if they did confirm they're a couple there could be a lot of hate. Good Luck Charlie got some death threats because of a lesbian couple on their show, and that's probably why they cancelled it.
I wouldn't want the show/staff to be wrapped up in that. Plus, just to keep in mind, this is a kid's show - and though I don't agree, a lot of people still think kids can't "comprehend" these types of topics. If only we lived in a perfect world, I would want to see more of this
And, yeah, it'd be cool to see Sunil and Vinnie go gaga and then realize what they're doing. That'd be funny. And as much as I hate to admit it, I am a shipper. Maybe the scene was a shout-out to shippers in support of gay love. I've seen a lot of Sunil/Vinnie on Deviantart and Tumblr

Now that I think of it, it might not be as much of a network taboo as one might think. Let's not forget this is an episode with a cupid thing going on. I've seen media with cupids, or cupid-like characters, who have paired up (mutual or one-way) same-sex couples, like Tiny Toon Adventures, Tenchi Universe and the Toejam & Earl game on the Genesis, just to name a few examples. None generated a homophobic controversial firestorm as far as I know.
I'm guessing it's probably because most people, even homophobes conservative-minded people, understand that cupid-induced romance is rather platonic and not in any way sexual, and that may somehow make it more acceptable. After all, people give and accept Valentines with either sex on Valentine's Day with no fuss.
If Bugs Bunny can get away with kissing Elmer Fudd as a way of pissing him off, I don't think this 2-second scene of two characters who look sexually ambiguous will harm anything.

Oh well, you just stated the magic word, "homophobe", that instantly takes you down a peg in terms of friendship respect of sorts with me... but anyway... I actually find the pairing amusing and ballsy, especially since it was the first thing you see in that episode. That, and I consider myself a "hypocritical homophobe" and a queer, and yet I kinda like that they included this. It serves as a ballsy counterpoint to Ashleigh Ball posting a fanart of AppleDash, the objectively worst shipping on MLPFiM in terms of relaitonship compatibility, on her Instagram on World "Pride" Day. Also, the fact that Rainbow Dash is wearing what is technically the attire for a male groom gives the implication that marriage, weddings, are inherently about the combination of the two binary genders. That and AppleDash is a terrible ship, and Applejack is the "less feminine" mare anyway. Sexy Rarijack ansgt is where it is at, and innocent FlutterDash yearning is where it is at, and odd-couple defrost the ice queen PinkieTwi, TwiPie is where it is at. It really feels good posting on a moderator-less forum. ...so, it was not Princess Stori, un-dolled-up. It was Genghis. Genghis and Tootsie are kinda hot.

I use the term rather loosely. I'm aware it's a flawed word since 'homophobe' implies fear when the subject usually involves hate. In any case, I apologize if it sounds offensive. I'll edit my post.
BTW, you probably wouldn't guess it from me but about 10 years ago I used to have anti-homosexual stances regarding the issue. I have since 180'd on that and now defend marriage rights for all couples. Love is love.

Well, the little additional thing that you added.... what I have to say about that is... Nope. Love may be love, but marriage is mariage, which is it's own thing that is not at all generally about "love". I am very against the concept of "marriage" being a political right, because it is not. No one is entitled to marriage documentation, it is just an excuse to siphon social status from the, single, unmarried people. Yeah, I'm one of those gay people who are against the politics of inclusion. Plus, that is not what Valentines---uh, cupid-ey love is about. Well, at least this episode did not air in February. I find that unique for a kid's cartoon!

Gay marriage legislation is a pretty done deal at this point anyway. Many of them argue that the Constitution does not discriminate between two consenting parties and that gay marriage bans are unconstitutional. Nonetheless, I do see your point; marriage should not be treated as though it were some entitlements club. After all, there are plenty of ways for a loving couple, gay or not, to enjoy the benefits of being together.
Also when you get right down to it, marriage is starting to sound obsolete. Why should two people who want to be together for a long time need to make it "official"? Shouldn't just being together be enough? Why go through the headaches of divorce proceedings when all it should really take is a simple break-up? The only time a trial should be necessary is to decide who gets the kids.
That said, while I do agree that some LGBT groups have politicized the issue more than it probably needs to be, I don't see any reason why their efforts should be stopped either. To each his own.
As for censoring myself, I'll do so if I feel like being polite. It may be a free country and this may be a moderator-less forum (at least for the time being; who knows if/when Zenoah will ever return), but that also means I can choose to show courtesy and restraint if I so well want to.
This discussion probably belongs in the Fridge board.

^^ agreed. I personally don't believe in marriage (for myself at least) even though I'm Christian. I think marriage is symbolic of spending eternity together - everyone is a romantic and most want to find their "Soulmate" "true love", etc. concepts that married people (I'm sure) believe in even if it doesn't work out. As for Tootsie/Genghis situation.... I understand it wouldn't generate hate but my point was that if this couple ever got "open" about it, parents will have something to say. I think this shows that barriers need to be broken within the animation industry.

I thought it was because Sugarsprinkles didnt know that 'princess' was a guy, Remember how Zoey responded? So i think if they snapped out of it they'd feel pretty awkward.

Sorry, mistook him for Princess, didnt remember Ghengis when he was first introduced. But still, maybe Sugarsprinkles mistook one of them for a girl?

I think they just re-used character models they had and forgot Tootsie was used for a male character.
