So I randomly saw a comercial for McDonalds that showed that they currently have LPS toys. I was surprised by this, though I thought it was pretty cool. I looked online and kind of thought the toys didn't look fantastic but was still interested. I managed to stop in McDonalds today with my mom for a coffee and an oatmeal (yes you can get oatmeal at mcDonalds. It comes with pieces of apples so it's actually pretty good). I saw that the toys looked a lot better than I expected and were actually pretty cute. I picked up the two they currently had at the restaurant. If anyone was wondering if it's worth the trip here is some info: they were around $1.60 each and came with stickers, little paper accessories (you can attach in small slots on the top or side of the toy), and a coupon for "$1 off any Littlest Pet Shop toy from Hasbro" good until October 20th. The toys were bobblehead figures on clear plastic stands, normally wearing some kind of outfit or clothing item. All character available are from the show and only one of them is not from the main cast. There are 6 possible characters: Minka, Penny Ling, Zoe, Vinny, Pepper, and Princess Stori (that's a fun choice. I wonder how many small kids that get the toy know he's a boy ;p). Unfortunately there is no Sunil or Russel (my top 2). The two I got were Penny Ling and Princess Stori. Here is a picture of them. I used the paper hair tuft for Princess Story and the paper twirling ribbon for PennyLing, so you guys can see that. It's not the best picture but I think it gives a better idea of what they really look like then the happy meal web page: Anyway, I hope this helps. I think it's cool that the show is getting some visibility like this. Although, even though I don't feel odd at all about buying MLP things I felt a little odd directly having to ask the guy at McDonalds to show me what Littlest Pet Shop toys they currently have. That said people don't normally realize I'm a grad student, but I'm guessing he thought I was at least a high schooler.

Yeah my niece recently got the Minka toy from McDonalds a few days ago. I was surprised when I saw it saying something like "I didn't know McDonalds had LPS toys... How come I didn't know about this?" Apparently I don't watch too much TV these days and my girlfriend confirmed to me that they do actually advertise this on TV. Hell I didn't know they still advertised McDonalds toys at all what with all the activists going against the chain for "promoting obesity in kids" with their cartoon characters and toys and all.
As glad as I am that LPS is getting more visibility with this, I'm kinda pissed that they left out Sunil and Russell...those two are the best in the show IMO. Not enough love for the male characters it seems.

Not enough love for the male characters it seems. I don't think people's activism has effected the companies advertising much at all. It did however lead to things like apple slices and the aforementioned oatmeal being options. I haven't seen a lot of Russel merchandise in general, but I did see a plush of Sunil at Target which I bought a while ago. I'm not sure what went into their character choices for these but technically 2 out of 6 are boys.. I'm assuming that at the very least whoever chose the characters knew that Princess Stori is male. I managed to get two more toys today since I found that there is a McDonalds on the street along campus. I only bought the toys and not food (I'm a vegetarian and their salad options don't really sound like anything worthwhile from what I can tell), as I did with the Minka. This seemed to confuse the person at the counter this time, drawing a bit of attention to it.. oh well. I got Vinnie and Pepper so that was pretty cool. I'm only missing Zoe now. The Vinnie one is pretty cute.

The only McDonald's toys I own are from the November 2012 set, not the new set from this year. I have Zoe Trent, Russell, and Pepper. I initially got a Minka toy, but I traded it with a friend and he gave me the Zoe toy. Pepper's toy from the 2012 set was scented, so I sniffed it a lot and she smelled beautiful! I loved it!

I'm intrigued about these 2012 set toys...hell, I never even knew they existed. Yep. Because the trailer for the show released on October 18, 2012, I watched it on that day and immediately became hooked. When they officially aired the show, McDonald's also did a promotional toy set in McDonald's, just like how My Little Pony did in February 2011 (Right before I joined the fandom) did their set.
