Now I know that taking place in a pet shop kind of requires having humans, sort of like how Rugrats required parents. But I want you to picture this.
You're at a Hasbro Studios meeting, and you're gonna make a cartoon based on Littlest Pet Shop. They establish the main pets and also Blythe (who has been in the LPS toyline since 2010 or so) and also a few other supporting characters. So then they start talking about having more human characters, like Blythe's friends (who don't own any pets), and antagonists to Blythe (who we might give pets to later in the show). They also talk about giving Blythe her own episode plotlines that don't feature the pets, and instead focused on her fashion career.
I don't understand the reasoning.

... And just where did you hear this (link / blog / proof OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.) Because I can see some of your anger is justified - neglecting what actually makes the show stand out (which is the pets themselves) sounds like a recipe for failure, overall.
As for Blythe getting more focus WHERE IT ACTUALLY MATTERS (as in her getting good at and recognized for her craft and likely career choice!), I just hope it actually involves her getting better at her craft (as in less time wasted at school and on those Biskit Retards, for example.) - too bad neglecting the pets too much is a bad idea. THEY are the true stars of the show, after all.

I don't mind Blythe when she is directly involved in the pet plot nor do I mind it when an sub plot centers around Blythe improving her fashion skills.
The pets should be the focus, and I like how instead of having a human sub plot distract from the focus they will have Blythe be part of their plot. This also makes use of the fact that Blythe can talk to the pets, which a sum of the episodes with human plots don't use.
I also like episodes where Blythe improves her fashion skills because she's a character we want to support (as a viewer) and it's good to see her efforts pay off.
As for other human characters, I like Roger, Mrs. Twombly, and Youngmee, but only as side characters. They shouldn't be the big focus of an episode. The plot can revolve around them (like in The Secret Recipe), but the narrative of the episode shouldn't put a focus on them.

Only because I wholeheartedly agree, overall.

Of course my problems also stem from the fact that I don't like Blythe at all.
Blythe feels like a character who should've just had her own show. Her fashion career, and high school dilemmas usually have nothing to do with the pets, and half the time if the pets are having a problem, she's nowhere to be found to help them! Don't you think that a girl who has the incredible ability to talk to animals should use it more to understand the pets and their feelings? She's too occupied to utilize her fantastic power. Simply put, she's the wrong character for this show.

Simply put, she's the wrong character for this show. So, then - Blythe should only exist to be a caretaker to the pets, then - and have no real character to speak of... Yeah, that makes sense - if this were the 70's or 80's. Sorry, can't please everyone, I guess. Still, I can see what you're saying here (even if I disagree with most of it - mainly because I do like Blythe and all, but the stuff you've pointed out gives validity to the hatred towards her (and ANY humans on this show...).). Now, you almost succeed in providing some modicum of sense on why Blythe and any human in this show is easy enough to bash - most of the stuff happening to them isn't as interesting as it should aim to be or has been done before (and likely better) somewhere else in another show. I myself have always felt no matter how much I did like this show, it could stand to have better writing on all sides, if only to get out of that damn pony show's shadow (God, that show is fucking overrated, but admittedly done better, to be honest!). For one thing, Blythe could be better utilized (not sure about less hated, though. Same with any other humans, too.) if this setting were more - cartoon-y by at least having more adventures and such with the pets than those wasted on settings we don't need to see for the umpteenth time like school, for example. Talking a bit crazy for a moment, I bet the only way I could see this hatred dying down a bit is if the pets were made into humanoids to exist alongside the humans... Almost. Eh... nah, that's crazy. Too bad my crazy idea sounds better than Blythe having her own show - unless it's made more cartoon-y and/or action packed than just Blythe going to school and focusing on her craft... AND NOTHING ELSE - Yeah. It would be more unpopular/easily bashed/obscured than the current show is now. I don't know, though: Maybe you should come up with your own cartoon someday. You sound like you could do a better job than this show has for you.

You sound like you could do a better job than this show has for you. Don't the pets already have a caretaker? Mrs. Twombly? What's she doing? She just seems to sit at the counter and do Kung-fu quilting lately. Or how about if the pets' OWNERS took care of them? Crazy, right? On a more serious note: So you're saying that even without Blythe, this show has enough problems? I guess I agree. Getting rid of Blythe and the humans won't solve all of the show's problems (glut of underdeveloped characters, lackluster storylines, over-dependence on musical numbers) but most of its problems in my opinion are stemmed from the human characters (dated internet slang, even more lacking characters), but if it can't get better writing, the show is doomed from the start. I guess my point is that LPS is trying to be two shows at once. In a cruel twist of fate, it doesn't know what it wants to be.

I'm actually curious to see. I've said how I would fix it myself, somewhere else in the past, but I'm always listening to good ideas from others.
