I've been thinking about what if Littlest Pet Shop got another generation, and I'm interested in what you guys think. Just post int this topic how you'd feel, how you would want the next generation to be, anything!
I find the idea of Littlest Pet Shop getting a new generation interesting. The show could be better, and I've wondered how certain episodes could be better. But, we all know they can't do it over, and maybe the closest think to doing it over is with a fresh start with a new generation.
If characters could be omitted in the new generations, what characters would omit? What characters would you want to return in the next generation?
In terms of characters I wouldn't mind omitting, Blythe's friends are on that list. I like all the pets, but if I had to omit some I would choose Minka, Vinnie, and Penny.
I really like the other pets, so I'd like to see them return. But if I had to pick two to return, I would pick Zoe and Sunil. I would love to see Sugar Sprinkles become a main character, but I'm not sure if that would happen.
Then again, I'm not sure any of this will happen. Oh well, it's still interesting to think about.

Something tells me this NEW show would function better if it were a lot like Muppet Babies, or something similar. Just don't get all reference-y and make sure adults can watch it, while not talking down to the true target audience (AKA kids, not just little girls!), and BAM. It probably won't be anything truly spectacular, but it'll likely be better received and hopefully more praised than the current show ever was, thinking deeply enough about it.
And yes, I could see myself watching something like this - I've seen better stuff growing than Muppet Babies, but I think for a show like this, THAT would be a good route to start - either that, or draw some experience from something like Looney Tunes (if that's even possible, that is...). Just don't do NO kids going to school BS. It's a huge turnoff - SERIOUSLY.

Wait, you would omit Vinnie but keep Sunil? What does Sunil have without Vinnie?
Also omitting Minka and Penny = booooooo!

Sorry, but regarding those two... Yeah. Sunil and Vinnie, in most unfortunate cases, just come off as dumb comic relief - which by itself, doesn't really work all that well in a better thought out narrative (yes, comedy can have effective narrative to it, too - look at Wander Over Yonder, for some example.). They would need serious development in order to be better characters in this "new" show if they were to exist in it, without their schtick being mocked and chastised as "old and tired"...
Sunil seems smarter, but Vinnie... Yeah. Either way, both characters would need to be made much smarter than they are to make things work if they were put in a new show (which I'm skeptical will ever happen, or turn out remotely good enough to replace this, knowing the reception of LPS as a franchise, now.).
But that's only the beginning...

But that's only the beginning... Yeah, I would really like if they (or at least Sunil) showed a more intelligent side. It bothers me how Sunil and Vinnie have become "comic relief". In recent episodes. As a show goes on more character to character relationships should get more and more explored, but it seems they're just sticking to the relationship between Sunil and Vinnie.

And I should clarify, I wouldn't mind if Penny, Minka, or Vinnie gets kept in a new series as long as they are written and developed better than they are currently.

I think they should have just kept this series going...
Honestly. It was fine the way it was in my opinion.... All the characters are great and the story's are good as well.
The thought of a new generation gets me a little upset because this one was fine the way it was...

The thought of a new generation gets me a little upset because this one was fine the way it was... I've spoken my piece on this before, but I can see where you're coming from as a legit fan of the current show... The real reason I could see myself being upset in this situation (which I'm not as much as you are, unfortunately - although you have my condolences...) is that if a newer generation happened (which likely won't be made right away - if these guys are smart, that is), it likely won't be as good to people in love with or having legit respect (liking) with the show as it is now. Unless they do a better job (at least in my personal opinion), I can see why people would be upset with this. They're going to have to do a good job convincing people this was a good move - that begins by making sure you have a strong crew behind you to make this work. I don't see that happening without a lot of talented people being hired for this new generation they seem so eager to bring about someday.
