I hereby designate this thread for the purpose of expressing personal feedback on each episode of season 3.
Here's mine for the first episode:
I liked the Weekend at Bernie's feel of the pets plot, which I thought was pretty enjoyable to watch and it also combined well with the classic Sunil/Vinnie dichotomy that was also in this episode. I also liked the crush thing going on with Penny-Ling, though that part never really concluded and just ran out of steam. I would've liked to see how far that could've went.
The plot with the humans seems to focus more on the Biskits than Blythe, which I thought was kinda odd. It's the season premiere and Blythe hardly has much of a role in it. She's mostly a backwater character here. This could be a good thing now that I think about it; after all I did ask for less human involvement for season 3 and this is something I actually got here. I also notice that the Biskit twins seem more neutral here. Another step in the right direction.
I imagined this episode would be a lot more plot-heavy and maybe introduce something new but it focuses more on the pet shop business rivalry. Not that I have a problem with that, it's just I thought they would do things a little differently. And the answer to Littlest Pet Shop's success is...drinking water... I think they could've given a better reason for a mom-and-pop business's success than just a water fountain.
Although the pet plot was pretty good IMO, I think for a season premiere they could've given all the other pets beside Sunil and Vinnie a little more screentime. Don't get me wrong, though, as an episode in and of itself, premiere or not, it definitely feels like they're starting to do something right for this season.
Although the pet plot was pretty good IMO, I think for a season premiere they could've given all the other pets beside Sunil and Vinnie a little more screentime. My main gripe with this episode is that while it did have a lot of things happening, there was nothing really eventful for a premiere episode, unless you count Largest Ever Pet Shop being destroyed. Other than that, it just feels like a non-premiere episode.
Don't get me wrong, though, as an episode in and of itself, premiere or not, it definitely feels like they're starting to do something right for this season.

A nice start to season 3. First of all I liked Blythe's hair in this episode, I liked all the callbacks from the LPS commercial, to the Pet Fasion Expo, to fun Russell, some nice touches.
So they did a Weekend At Bernie's parodies, that is more for the parents than the kids, I am sure they wouldn't get it. The plot did seem to be more male focused, even the B plot was more Fisher Bisket than the Bisket daughters. This is even more of a sausage episode than "Eight Arms To Hold You" at least that had Blythe played a center role.
But I don't mind we got to see the two best duos do their thing. First of course Vinnie and Sunil, the writers have answered our requests and gave us more Sunil and Vinnie. Though I have to question who has a ratcoon for a pet? I loved the song, that is awesome, I hope we have more of those.
And the b plot, it is a human plot, that doesn't have much to do with Blythe, it is the Biskit family. And I like the way they were written, they were more neutral than out right villains, I guess they are still antagonist being business rivals, but that is pretty much it, they are just comic relief. And I can't help but feel sorry for Fisher, they have a Elmor Feud or Tom feel, that are such losers you can't help but feel pitty for them. And if they had a little more of a underdog status going for them, I might even go as far to say you can't help but root for them. And the Biskits disguices were actully good, I wish they did interact with Blythe more in disguise, maybe we might see some development in their relationship with Blythe.
All and all a good start, looks like we are back to the season 1 type of goodness. I just wish the female pets had more to do, though I liked Penny's crush on Mr. Von Fizzlebutt, she is cute when she flirts. This episode I am sure Gene from the video store will love it, props to anyone that gets that reference.
Don't worry about Largest Ever Pet Shop, I read the episode 5 synphis, they will be back and running soon.

Regarding 301 - Sleeper...
This is probably the BEST season premiere this show has gotten, IMHO (Missing Blythe was great, but this effort felt more natural and well thought out in general!) - I can say that proudly, but at the same time with a feeling of shame, as I'm reminded this show would be way more popular than it is (even though it still would NOT be as good as Friendship Is Magic, however... ) if it had started out this good, period...
The only real gripe here is that it is just another day at the pet shop. Nothing more, nothing less, besides the Biskits being their usual stupid selves (At least we know where the twins get it from... That "water" idea of yours was not one of your better means of drumming up business for yourself, now was it, Fisher?!)
What matters most importantly is that Blythe (As much as I do like her and all, but this ain't really her show, which we all agree on by now...) didn't need to be on screen all that much to make this overall High Tier episode, IMHO, work. It was all thanks to focus on the pets, specifically Sunil and Vinnie, and their actually funny parodying of Weekend at Bernie's.
Other than that, not too much to write about here, but still enjoyable overall - now here's hoping the next episode can build on this momentum we've got for now.

Like MM, I was reminded of Weekend at Bernie's and I thought it was awesome! I also like the fact that all was not revealed to the other pets and Vinnie and Sunil were just plain burnt out. It's not often that there's no lesson for the pets to learn so this was just a fun episode. On the human side of things, I LOVED Whitt and Britt's disguises!!!

I liked their disguises too, I thought they were cute. I love to see an episode in which they experiment being ordinary people, with a fresh start, maybe they make some friends, maybe even meet a couple of nice guys, could be some brief character development for them.

War Of The Weirds
Well I see Largest Ever Pet Shop recovered quickly from the last episode. As soon as I heard the radio advertising, I knew where they were going with the whole ufo thing. I knew LEPS was behind it, I though this was going to end up with them trashing and vandalising LEPS again and show no remourse or aplogetic for their action. I have seen our so called heros do that a couple to that a couple of times to LEPS or the Biskit family, so thankful no. The writers finally get it, you can only give comeuppings to the Biskits and / or LEPS when they actully deserve it.
The aliens in their imigination they look just like the aliens in the first episdoe of South Park. And where is Kent Brockman when you need him to welcome our new overlords. We get some continuity with Minka's Mars visit and the other pets still have not come clean about their trick. And they still haven't. And Blythe not a smart move to ask the guy that believe in Big Foot to be rational about aliens.
And Madison is back, I thought she could be the Larry and Steve of this series, and have recurring gag of jumping from job to job, that would be a good role. Though here is Trombry hiring her again, I have to give it to Mrs. T, she has a good heart, giving that idiot another chance.
And Fisher Biskit he has Scrooge McDuck cheep rich guy personna. If he is so rich, why not hire real actors for your commercial instead of his daughter, cheep skate.
The twist at the end, Mrs. T saved the world, and Uptown does excist, I knew it.

Oh man, this episode was awesome! We had quite a lot happening in this episode; I don't even know where to start...
Let's see, we have Mrs. Twombly's antics, more Sunil and Vinnie interaction, some throwbacks to Standup Stinker, plenty of screentime with the pets with just about all of them having a certain role, plenty of fantasy-based scenes (the whole aliens thing was a nice touch), Madison showing up again (although I'm not crazy about her), Blythe's cool-looking outfit, Blyth and all the pets being together, both plots eventually intertwining, and a really nice comical twist at the end. This episode had (almost) everything~
Seeing Twombly in her usual quirky self and her rivalry with Fisher is always refreshing to see IMO. Madison's reappearance also seems to establish the fact that she's pretty much a secondary/tempory employee at LPS. The aliens plot not only showed some pretty wild scenes with imaginary aliens but also brought us back to the Mars plot from Standup Stinker so it kinda made this episode feel like a sequel in a way. The Biskit twins also make an appearance and thankfully it's a suitable one at that where we see them featured in a cheesily-made commercial for LEPS. I think this is also the first time we see Blythe wear stretch pants as a regular outfit (not counting the spy outfit in Gailbreak of course). I also liked her hair in this too with that head-scarf and all. It was also nice to see her together with all of the pets.
Fisher selling the UFO prop to an unwitting Twombly was also hilarious and connected both plots pretty well at the end. Speaking of the end, the episode doesn't even end there and treats us to a scene where Twombly's screams of discontent end up scaring away some aliens, one of them looking just like the alien costume from Standup Stinker (an episode whose title should really be changed IMO to focus on the Mars plot).
As for negatives...hmm... Not much here honestly. Although it was nice to see a character return, I would've rather it been someone other than Madison. Her "Meh, whatever" attitude is moreso annoying than entertaining. The only thing that justified her appearance IMO was eating and liking the pet treats. I was also a little disappointed to see Russell being paranoid alongside the other pets instead of being the voice of reason like he was in Door-Jammed. This episode could've also had a song with it, but with everything else this episode had, it's not that big a deal. And this is just a nitpick but why would there be a LEPS billboard sign with nothing but a creepy-looking mugshot of Fisher Biskit?
Overall, this episode was great and I would even rank it up there with Gailbreak and Door-Jammed.

Regarding my thoughts on "War of The Weirds"...
- How did those Biskit scumbags manage to rebuild so fast after their stupidity in the very last episode??? Seriously... Cartoon or not, there should have been no hope of a comeback for them, especially in today's economy..... Just putting that logic out there, everyone.
- Once again, Twombly's naivete (or unfortunate stupidity) is what got her into a mess and gave us our conflict for the week. Worse still, it's those Biskit scumbags who beat her, too. There must be retribution in the future for this - OR ELSE (the protagonists' business is in trouble...).
+ However, to be fair on the show, seeing anyone I like on this show (Blythe, Twombly, or the Pets regardless, win too much, would get old and boring, anyway - so we have a legitimate conflict now... Here's hoping these writers can continue to deliver in a positive light on it... By not having our heroes win too much, for starters, like zoombie pointed out better than I am trying to do here.
I guess I'm still shocked (And angry) that Twombly lost to those idiots. A pity, really.
+ Once again, the pets are made the driving force of the show with their overactive imaginations, except there is some rhyme and reason to it that makes it work, even in the most subtle of ways.
+ I guess it also helps that how the pets were handled with being afraid of something they didn't understand was infinitely better handled here than in Door - Jammed, for example (call it blasphemy, I just like what I saw here much more - and this episode didn't even need a musical number to make it work for me, either, which is bonus points in my book!).
Yeah - this is definitely another High Tier effort (without going too deeply into it, like I usually aim not to do, unless necessary!) for LPS Season 3 and I'm glad to have finally sat down to it - keep up the good work, LPS.

War of the Weirds Pretty darn good if you ask me! I loved how Blythe has apparently channeled some of Ashleigh's fashion style. Also, the tinfoil helmets... XD XD XD XD

Indeed, I've done this thing also, copypaste my thoughts and disperse them on multiple places. This really does seem to be the largest specifically dedicated forum for Littlest Pet Shop. Kind of a disappointment because this ProBoards board is kind of barren. plus the URL of this site is littlestrpg.proboards.com and most people don't touch the roleplay element. This is a very good start to the season... and both episodes did a great job with the Biskit family... but indeed, the whole series cannot revolve around this. At least I don't reckon. It is good to mix it up. Actually, these Sunil and Vinnie episode(s) do feel a bit different... "War of the Weirds" is not just your typical paranoia episode... These episodes do seem a bit shaken up from what we've seen before, depsite having SEVERAL old LPS elements, such as guest characters, arbitrary crushes on guest characters, "FISHER... BISKIT!". Maybe it is just the sheer amount of actually making a concerted effort to be humorous that makes these stand out. That, and the B-plots aren't boring to the point of fatigue, where we have trouble remembering which B-plot goes with which episode.

Indeed, it was a good call to keep a song out of this one. Here's to hoping that the show doesn't overstep it's demands to make Daniel Ingram come up with songs past his creative limit on stuff. Save it for stuff that deserves a song. "Oh, and Hangin' by a Thread" was worthwhile'; after all it was an antics montage song, a better change of pace from most of the songs, that are Imagine Spots.

Well...I don't have much to say about this episode. The whole situation in Blythe's plot is your typical "ultra-demanding bossy boss gives main character a hard time" schtick played out throughout half the episode. The way it turned out miraculously well left much to be desired. SPOILER (highlight to read): Mona Autumn gets an allergic reaction on her face before meeting someone whom she intends to make a deal with. Blythe attempts to fix this by hiding her face any way she can. For some odd reason this makes Mona come off as someone totally relatable to her client and the deal is sealed without a hitch.
While it's nice in the end to see Blythe slightly advance yet another step in her fashion career, the situation she's thrust into just doesn't suit her well IMO. If anything, this episode only reinforces why I generally don't care too much about the whole fashion aspect of this show: the fashion industry is brutal and full of superficial tightwads. Blythe, and this show overall, does better when we see her actually designing things. I understand that in order to get ahead with your passions in life, you have to establish closer relations with all the important people, but the way this episode handled it by making Blythe a servile assistant and saving the day through a fluke just didn't accomplish that very well from my own perspective.
The pet plot is a little more entertaining but still mostly boring. It's basically just Russell and Zoe doing photo shoots along with a guest animal named Tangier (however you spell that) whom we later find out to be sabotaging Russell's poses. It's eventually resolved thanks to Zoe's suspicions and intervention. The one thing that stands out in this plot is that for the first time in the show we have a pet we can actually call a villain all the way through the episode. Every other guest pet we've seen who came off villainy in their respective episodes all turned out to be okay characters in the end. Tangier on the other hand is a dog we can expect to see causing another conflict for the pets in a future episode.
That's about all I can say about the pet plot. We don't get much screentime of the other pets and it would've been nice to see other outfits for Russell and Zoe. Cairo also wasn't all that interesting although it was nice to see her help Blythe out a bit.

Okay we find out who Mona Autumn's assistant who is now a named character went insane. That poor woman, she needed a day off, she needs a month off. So we finally have a pet villain. At first I thought this plot was going to be about Zoey being paranoid. But she is not, it develops the Russell / Zoey relationship. Zoey who had been jealous of Russell in the past has grown past that and is now looking out for him which is nice character development. And Blythe saves the day at the end, and Mona becomes more and more like a mentor to Blythe. I am disappointed that the pets were in the same building as Mona, and they don't meet or interact with Ciaro. I hope they would meet someday. A solid episode all in all, event hough the cast was small.
I know I am pushing my luck with possible jinxes, but another Jasper free episode. Keep it up.
